Jennifer I recently bought your book after a voice student of mine had told me about it. I'm so glad that more and more and more people are creating places for people to train their entire selves in addition to their voices in a wholistic way. I know that is what I am doing on my own and with my private students. Part of my commitment also comes from the fact that I felt this perspective was somewhat lacking in college.Pyenghttp://oftheairmusic.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-386832414408339726.post-65804089354431078182010-05-18T11:57:32.912-04:002010-05-18T11:57:32.912-04:00Dominick, thanks for your wonderful note. You bring up a great point, one that I certainly agree with... a person doesn't need to be psychologically 'healthy' or spiritually 'free' to sing well (whatever 'those words' mean... : ) For me however, the definitions of 'good' and 'best' do not only include how the voice and performance come across to the listener. They are also functions of the experience for the singer. When the audience is moved and the singer is clear and truly present, THAT to me, is the best singing around.Jennifer Hamadyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15900182675456262554noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-386832414408339726.post-76953250708133859982010-05-18T11:50:42.170-04:002010-05-18T11:50:42.170-04:00I totally loved everything you had to say Jennifer...I totally loved everything you had to say Jennifer. It shows a life experience vs. a self help book. I'm glad you're in a position to affect many people, because what you do is extremely important to the evolution of the race. The only thing I would take issue with is the fact that on should be spiritually free and psychologically healthy before being able to sing they're best. Some of the greatest singers in the world have been alcoholics and not so nice people. I don't think they were the exception to the rule I just think that great singing doesn't necessarily depend on enlightenment although that would be the optimum situation. Carry on and hope to see you soon. DominickDominicknoreply@blogger.com
